EDEN Handicap Service Centre is hoping a crowd of 3,000 will turn up at its annual charity food fair on June 11 at the compound of Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang, Penang.

A press conference was held on April 6 at Eden Handicap Service Centre to further explain about the event.

Madelene Tye, co-founder of Eden, was present together with Lee Sin Kok and Derrick Cheah who are both on the organising committee.

“We appeal to the public to support and partner with us to achieve our target of RM250,000 by either donating funds or purchasing coupons at RM20 per booklet. All proceeds from the event will benefit people with disabilities in the community through our free services,” said Tye.

The food fair will feature some 100 stalls selling a variety of home-cooked food, hawker fare, different cuisines, souvenirs, handicrafts and much more.

The food fair will also have a “Go Green’ concept to promote environment care so the public is encouraged to bring their own tiffin carriers or containers.

Eden Handicap Service Centre was established in 1991 as an independent non-profitable charity organisation and completely depends on the voluntary contributions from the public to support its free services to people with disabilities.

As of 2016, it services some 170 people with disabilities with a monthly expenditure of approximately RM90,000.

We also kindly ask for sponsorship and donations for the food fair. Anyone who wishes to donate, set up food stalls, or sponsor food stalls may do so by contacting us through phone or website,” added Tye.
