BULETIN Mutiara’s resident cartoonist Azmi Mohd. Hussin, or better known as ME, is a man on a mission
On March 18 and 19, ME will attempt to make it into the Malaysia Book of Records in Caricature Drawing in 24 hours.
Exco member for Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Chow Kon Yeow, in support of ME’s quest, called a press conference on Feb 22 to announce the event.

“The state government encourages young talents in arts to shine, not only in Penang but also Malaysia and the world. I am sure it won’t be an easy task to draw for 24 hours but ME will be able to do so with the support from everyone,” Chow said.

ME, 33, was spotted by exco member for Agriculture, Agro-based Industries, Rural Development and Health Dr. Afif Bahardin who recognised his talents in 2015.

Dr Afif recommended that ME contribute his cartoons to Buletin Mutiara, and, as they say, the rest is history.
ME’s one motto in life is: “We just have to be hardworking.”

He is now a fulltime artist working on caricatures where the expression of a person is intentionally exaggerated, drawing wall murals and he is also for hire at functions where he draws portraits for guests.
ME has captured life in Penang in two books which were published in 2015 (Tanjong Life) and 2016 (The Little Mamak).

He will draw 250 caricatures in 24 hours on the two days and those who are the lucky 250 will get a free caricature done by ME.
