Affordable homes the way to go

AMONGST the new Datuks who received their awards from the Penang Governor is Datuk Chan Fock Seng who is a familiar face in REHDA (Real Estate and Developers Association) Penang.

Born in 1950, Chan received his early education from Chung Ling High School and continued abroad at Cornell University in the United States in Civil Engineering. Chan is a Company Director of Chong Company & Hwa Sing Development.

Under Chan’s leadership, Chong Company Sdn Bhd through its companies had build more than 5,000 units homes. “I believe building affordable homes is the way to go. My company has build over 1,000 low and medium cost homes costing RM72,500 and also public facilities like wet market and hawker centre in Relau. History has shown that providing affordable homes for the people is the only way forward. We must provide opportunities for wealth creation for the people and this can be achieved through markets and hawker complexes where they can make a living,” Chan shared with Buletin Mutiara when asked about his focus.

Chan also regularly participates in charitable works through his involvement in reaching out to the aged, orphans and underprivileged group.
