THE best kept secrets of Penang are yours to indulge, all at the simple click of a button or at the swipe of a finger.

Penang Global Tourism officially launched its new “my Penang” website (www.mypenang.gov.my), providing a handy and interactive guide for visitors to discover the latest happenings, attractions and eats all over the island and the mainland.

The core pillars of the website are three categories of experiences that Penang has to offer.

These include, “discover”, covering heritage and culture, “indulge”, featuring everything and anything food related and “explore”, encompassing nature and adventure.

Another feature on the site would be its trip planner and accommodation options, which tie in with the three main sections by showing users the exact distance from their hotels to any attraction in Penang.

As of now, the website is accessible in English, Malay and Chinese and is soon to be available in Korean and Japanese in the foreseeable future.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who officiated the unveiling ceremony recently, said the newly launched site marks a more effective and convenient way of showcasing Penang to tourists and visitors alike.

“This marks a more effective way of communicating with the rest of the world of what is current and happening in Penang. It’s where not only events and news on both the island and the mainland can be found, but also announcements, enlightening feature stories and a planner, so everyone will have a compass on what to do, see and of course, eat, here in Penang,” Lim said.

Penang Global Tourism managing director, Ooi Geok Ling said users will be able to browse, choose, plan and print out their travel agenda, giving even more convenience when playing tourist around Penang.

“Soon, users will also be able to plan their itineraries, save it on the website and then access it on their mobile phones, providing a planner and guide to Penang that they can take with them everywhere,” Ooi added.
