WHILE Germany were the winners of the recent 2014 World Cup in Brazil, two NGOs in Penang were also winners in a different way.

They received RM 3,000 each which were proceeds from the FIFA 2014 World Cup finals screening held at Auto Mall on Persiaran Karpal Singh on July 13.

The viewing was jointly organized by Zeon Properties, Auto Mall, and the service center of Sungai Pinang. At the event, food coupons were sold to cater to the hungry folks to munch away as they remained at the edge of their seats.

From the total sales collected, a sum of RM6,000 was set aside to be donated to two NGOs in the spirit of goodwill. They include the Penang Handicapped Welfare Association and Grace Harmony Homes.

A major help in organizing in the event and the charity donations, Lim Siew Khim, state assembly member for Sungai Pinang said that she hoped that in the future, more events like this can be channeled into both public enjoyment and helping our fellow man as well.

“This event encompassed a lot of things. One we were all able to enjoy the World Cup finals as a community. Two, we were able to promote Auto Mall, a new addition to the Karpal Singh Drive and three, helping with some charity work, all at the same time,” Lim added.
