Robotics winners make Penang proud

INTI International College Penang (INTI) engineering students have not only clinched an attractive US$20,000 prize but also made Penang proud by coming out tops in the “Excellence in Robotic Engineering” in Spain organised by Laureate International Universities.

“Out of 35 countries which participated, 10 were shortlisted. We won the first prize, representing Malaysia. Our project is called MEGA-01 Mobile Enhance Guider Android,” said ………., one of the four members of the team.
The others are Toh Yi Feng, Chung Soon Zhi, Koh Kah Seng and Lee Joo Han and were guided by their lecturer Bryan Chong Fook Lim.

“The MEGA-01 robot is a mobile interactive robotic system. It is equipped with a computerised electro-mechanical system that is able to navigate around the campus an utilising indoor positioning system and linear quadratic estimation concept. In brief, the robot can guide visitors to each section of the campus,”said Chong.

The four students were rewarded with a certificate of appreciation and received the honour from Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at Komtar.
Lim praised them and said, “You have made Penang proud and won in a world class competition. Penang wants to celebrate this victory with you. I must emphasise that in robotics field, we are amongst the top, not only in Malaysia but in the world.”
