Rotary Club of Penang praised for its services to the community

CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow commended the Rotary Club of Penang for its contribution to society.

 

“Your engagement with the local community for the past nine decades has borne fruit when you see the difference you have brought into the lives of those who are less fortunate.

 

“You have done well in your ongoing projects like the Gift of Life, the Gift of Sight, the Home Nursing Programme, the Dialysis Centre and others.

“Congratulations to fellow Rotarian Eric Ong, who is the immediate past president for a selfless year of service to the community through various projects.

 

“The baton is now in the hands of your successor, Dr Amreet Singh Gill,” he said in his speech during the 92nd Presidential Installation Banquet of the Rotary Club of Penang in Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel.

 

Dr Amreet is the incoming president of the Rotary Club of Penang for 2022/2023.

 

Chow said the Rotary Club of Penang is one of the oldest existing Rotary Clubs in the country.

 

He gave his thumbs up to the organising committee for their efforts in the installation ceremony.

 

Dr Amreet was delighted to be elected to helm the committee of the Rotary Club of Penang.

 

“We will strive to serve for a better tomorrow,” he said, thanking Chow and other distinguished guests for attending the event.

 

Among those present were Chow’s wife Tan Lean Kee, past district Governor Dr Baskaran Gobala Krishnan, incoming assistant governor Thannimalai Letchumanan and other Rotarians.
