MBSP strengthens global ties through environmental and educational programme

THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), together with the Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah Polytechnic (PTSB) and a delegation from Indonesia, participated in the ‘TVET CSR Programme: I Love SDG’ at Taman Bertam Putra, North Seberang Perai’.

 

MBSP secretary Mohd Ibrahim Md Nor, who officiated the Aug 9 programme, said it served as a platform to strengthen understanding, enhance skills, and promote social responsibility towards environmental sustainability.

 

Md Nor said that in line with the programme’s objectives and the shared commitment to sustainable development, it supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and broader global development efforts.

 

“A total of 68 participants took part in the programme, comprising 46 international delegates from Indonesia and 22 representatives from PTSB.

 

“This activity is expected to increase awareness of climate change, resource sustainability, and the role of the community as an agent of change.

“MBSP also emphasises its continuous commitment to implementing various environmental education programmes.

 

“‘Recycling Briefings’, ‘Green School Award’, ‘Edu-Green Digital’, ‘School Transformation Towards Sustainability Programme’ (TASKAL), ‘No Single-Use Plastic’ campaign, the ‘Urban Agricultural Workshop’, and the ‘Healthy Eating Programme’ in schools,” he said.

 

This programme supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which is, quality education that aligns with global efforts to build a knowledgeable, resilient, and prosperous society.

 

Activities include tree planting, visits to the MBSP Upcycle Unit, and educational trips to the Green Education Centre in Tasek Gelugor.

 

It aims to strengthen partnerships between local and international educational institutions, fostering inclusive exchanges of knowledge, innovation, and culture.

Meanwhile, Norlili Juwita Arshad, director of PTSB, said the programme teaches the younger generation to care for the environment.

“Besides caring for nature, we want to instil good values in students, the generation that will inherit the world in the future,” Norlili said.
