Giant teddy bear coin mosaic for a cause

 

PENANG Adventist Hospital Charity is building an 80ft × 40ft giant teddy coin mosaic with 50 cent coins from donations.

As a run-up, a series of outreach will be held at some major malls in Penang whereby a 6ft × 6ft teddy coin mosaic templates will be put up for the public to place 50 cent coins as donations.

A finale will be held in Gurney Paragon on May 19 where the completed giant mosaic will be displayed.

State Agriculture, Agro-based Industries, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin launched the charity event held at Penang Adventist Hospital on May 10.

Also present were Penang Adventist Hospital chief executive officer Ronald Koh, chief operating officer Dr Thomas Tean and finance senior director Albin Phua.

Dr Afif, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the hospital for being always in the forefront of health education and bringing forth the much-needed awareness to the society.

“As the state executive councillor for health, I pledge to continuously support you in your endeavour. Let us create a lasting impact together,” he added.

Koh said the hospital aimed to raise RM200,000 in aid of their cancer fund via the Charity Giant Teddy Coin Mosaic.

“This project will see us using 50 cent coins to arrange a giant teddy coin mosaic measuring 80ft by 40ft in conjunction with the celebration of our 95th anniversary”.

“This is no easy feat, but with donations from the public and corporate companies, we will be able to achieve this audacious task,” he said.

A Charity Giant Teddy Coin Mosaic Roadshow will be held at SJK (C) Chong Cheng (April 14), Pelita International School (April 18), Sunshine Square (April 21), Tenby School Penang (April 23),Gurney Plaza (May 12) and Gurney Paragon-Closing Ceremony (May 19).
