TAMAN Han Chiang residents in Jalan Sungkai Penang have something to cheer for the new year 2019, as their six blocks of apartments will soon get a new coat of paint.

Costing some RM60,000, the cost will be borne by the state government and fund from MP of Jelutong, R.S.N Rayer.

Exco for Local Government, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo said the state government has approved the painting works under TP1M 80/20 scheme.

“For the project, the state government will be funding RM12,000 while R.S.N Rayer will be allocating RM48,000,” Jagdeep told a press conference this morning at Taman Han Chiang.

Also present were chairman of the management committee (Taman Han Chiang), Ung Lay Peng and assistant secretary of state housing department Mohd Fauzy Mohd Yusoff.

“The first phase of painting works at Taman Han Chiang which cover Blocks 25 and 27 will begin soon.

“Today’s approval for painting is the second for Taman Han Chiang, with the first project of roof repair completed in 2018, at a cost of RM156,000,” Jagdeep said

Jagdeep also commented that he will meet with up Housing and Local Government Minister, Zuraida Kamaruddin today to discuss various issues concerning funding for housing in Penang.

“Since 2013 till December 2018, 211 applications was approved with cost of RM31.23 million involving 362 projects.

“The projects involved improvement or replacement of lifts, change water tanks and improvement of piping system, replacement or improvement of roof, painting, road surfacing, building of anti-climb fencing, railing, staircase and natural disaster follow up,” he stressed.
