PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today attended a court-mediated proceeding at the Penang Court Mediation Centre concerning a defamation lawsuit filed against him by former Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy.

The mediation revolves around Chow’s remarks linked to the now-cancelled land transaction between the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and Umech Land Sdn Bhd.

In a statement issued after the session, Chow confirmed that the mediation process is ongoing, with the next session scheduled for July 2.

“Today’s mediation involved defamation suits stemming from the cancelled land deal between PDC and Umech Land,” Chow said.

“The first defamation suit was filed by Dr Ramasamy against me. The second suit was filed by PDC against Dr Ramasamy,” he added.

Also present during the proceeding was PDC chief executive officer Datuk Aziz Bakar.
