PENANG is stepping up its global outreach as Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo prepares to lead a seven-member delegation on a trade mission to Bangalore and New Delhi from Jan 3, targeting fresh investment opportunities in the semiconductor sector and beyond.
The Datok Keramat assemblyman said he will visit several companies during his 10-day trip to India to explore business opportunities, particularly in the semiconductor sector, and to strengthen networking ties.

“I believe this is going to be a fantastic year for Penang. Although Penang is a small state, it is home to more than 500 multinational corporations and over 7,000 small and medium enterprises. We have attracted the world and will continue to do so,” he said.
Jagdeep was speaking at a luncheon hosted by his Datok Keramat service centre at Dewan MPKK Kampong Makam in George Town.
He thanked the attendees for their support and cooperation over the years.
“We still have a long way to go. The state has turned to Batu Kawan and Bertam for further industrial development,” he added.

State Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim, who was also present, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to implementing caring policies.
“We faced many challenges last year, but we want to thank the people for their encouragement,” she said.
Among those present at the luncheon were Jagdeep’s wife Belindar Bhar, father-in-law Datuk Baldev, mother-in-law Datin Gwen, Jagdeep’s third son Armaan, Jagdeep’s special adviser J. Philip Vincent and Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi.
