PDC identifies more industrial land to attract investments

THE Penang Development Corporation (PDC) has identified 1,156 acres of land at the Batu Kawan Industrial Park 2 (BKIP2) as the corporation’s new industrial site to attract local and foreign investments.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said PDC is the main state agency that is responsible to spearhead Penang’s socio-economy and to provide job opportunities.

“As of October this year, we have 481 acres of industrial land supply. They are at Batu Kawan Industrial Park (258 acres), Penang Science Park (26 acres) and Penang Science Park North (197 acres),” Chow replied Goh Choon Aik (PH-Bukit Tambun) while presenting his winding-up speech during the State Legislative Assembly at Dewan Sri Pinang today.

Chow said the state government would continue to promote BKIP2 as an ‘extension’ to the existing BKIP.

“The BKIP has become an international brand and the preferred location for foreign investors,” he said.

Chow added that PDC had planned to build a new bridge across Sungai Tengah, connecting Batu Kawan and Byram.
