Two reps donate deck chairs to state Health Department

TWO constituency service centres came together to jointly donate a total of 20 deck chairs to the Penang Health Department today for the use of Covid-19 patients.

Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee and Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng presented the deck chairs to the state Health Department senior principle assistant director (Medical Division) Dr Lingeshwaran R. Arunasalam at the state Health Department office.

Lee said the deck chairs are meant for use by Covid-19 patients while they are waiting for admission to the Penang Hospital.

Ng said this was arranged because one of his Village Community Management Council (MPKK) members was found to be Covid-19 positive two days ago and had to wait for several hours at the admission area.

“He was waiting from 3am to 11pm yesterday. We quickly acted when I got to know of the situation.

“It is unimaginable that Covid-19 patients have to bear with the long waiting time to be admitted or transferred to quarantine centre but have to wait at a waiting area which is not prepared well. Even some were too tired and slept on the floor,” Ng said.

Also present were deputy state Health director M. Maheswari and chief supervisor assistant medical officer Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid.
