OWNING a house is a major milestone for many, but for 40-year old Mogana Anbuselvan, who is visually impaired, it holds even greater significance.
Mogana was beaming with joy as she received her letter offer for a unit under the Rumah MutiaraKu project at Pangsa Mutiara Indah (Phase 4), during a symbolic handover ceremony at Komtar, today. She was accompanied by her proud mother, Puspa Thangaveloo.
Pangsa Mutiara Indah (Phase 4) is located in the south Seberang Perai district.
According to Mogana, her housing loan was initially rejected, but she persisted and her determination paid off when it was approved on her second attempt.

“I waited five years for this day and I am overwhelmed with joy to finally receive the offer. I would like to express my gratitude to the state government for providing housing opportunities to people like me with disabilities,” she told Buletin Mutiara.
Mogana works at St Nicholas Home as a massage instructor.
Earlier at the ceremony, state Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu shared that, following the Housing Performance and Achievement Committee (HOPE) meeting held on May 9, a total of 63 eligible recipients were granted housing offers.
Out of these, 37, including Mogana, participated in the symbolic offer letter handover ceremony today.

Three projects that were offered: Rumah Pangsa Mutiara Indah Phase 4, priced at RM42,000, Pangsapuri Mutiara Anggun, also priced at RM42,000 and Ceria Residence, sold for RM72,500.
Pangsapuri Mutiara Anggun is located in the southwest district, while the Ceria Residence is located in the northeast district.
Sundarajoo shared that the target of providing 220,000 Rumah MutiaraKu units by 2030 has now reached 76.17%, with some units already built, others under construction, and the rest in the planning stage.
“The Rumah MutiaraKu rent-to-own scheme aims to deliver 22,000 housing units by 2030. To date, a total of 5,066 units have been successfully made available under this scheme.

“For this scheme, the Penang Housing Board (LPNPP) also considers applicants whose housing loans have been rejected three times,” he added.
Sundarajoo also expressed his gratitude to the developers Palmington Sdn Bhd (Rumah Pangsa Mutiara Indah Phase 4), JKP Sdn Bhd (Pangsapuri Mutiara Anggun), and Orientside Development Sdn Bhd (Ceria Residence) for collaborating with the state government in making these homes a reality.

Also present were LPNPP chief business officer Fakhurrazi Ibnu Omar, LPNPP chief legal and enforcement officer Nadzifah Abd Rahim, JKP Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Farizul Arif Abd Mutalib and Palmington Sdn Bhd assistant general manager Chew Yoke Hoon.
