World Religion Day helps to unify togetherness, says exco

  • THE origins of World Religion Day lie in the Bahai principles of the oneness of religion and progressive revelation.

Besides, the purpose of this celebration is to highlight the ideas and the spiritual principles underlying the worlds’ religions as harmonius and that it plays a significant role in unifying harmony.

“Celebrating World Religion Day this year is a first for the State Government. Let this be the start to many more of such celebration bringing awareness to a wider community than the some 150 present here today,” exco for Women & Family Development, Gender Inclusiveness and Religions Other Than Islam.

Chong Eng said during her speech at the World Religion Day 2019, theme ‘Religion As A Promoter Of Social Harmony’ held at Komtar on January 27.

Also present were representatives from various religions- Bahai, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikh and Taoism.

Chong Eng added that one important thing to bear in mind is however good and sincerce one’s intention, they will remain just that- good intention.

She also briefed on what Buddhism, Christianity and Islam said about religious beliefs,and summarise that most religions practise spirit of good and kindness.

Chong Eng commented that the state has also made platforms like PENRIBI, Tabung RIBI and her department has access for all religious organisations to apply funding for various related purposes.
