SOME 15,000 delegates from 50 countries around the globe are expected to attend the 36th edition of Qnet’s V-Convention which is set to take place at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre from Oct 7 to 11.

The convention, which is an annual event organised by V-Global for the ninth year in Penang, was last held here in September 2019.

QI Malaysia chairman Datuk Sri Subahan Kamal said the V-Convention was halted for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We have been waiting for this day for almost three years and we miss being in Penang.

“It is our biggest event of the year and a very important platform for us to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship over the five days.

“We are looking forward to welcoming around 13,000 entrepreneurs from all around the world to this beautiful island.

“We will be also bringing in our staff as well as global dignitaries which will total up to nearly 15,000 people,” Subahan said during a press conference today at Komtar.

Subahan also thanked the state government and Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) for their continuous support given all these years to organise the V-Convention in Penang.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the event serves as a benchmark to prove that Penang is capable of hosting large-scale events.

“It is not easy to handle the logistics and accommodation. Perhaps, we need to see beyond Penang to meet the needs concerning accommodation.

“Thank you to PCEB and state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin for working with the relevant companies to ensure that the event can be carried out in the best possible way.

“With the tourism sector resuming, we hope that Penang will continue to live up to the standard and requirement of business events’ organisers,” Chow said.

Also present were Yeoh, PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran, QI Group marketing and sales director Pathman Senathirajah, V Global Management chief executive officer Dev Johl, V Global Management business development representative Devaraj Jeevaratnam and V Global Management head of events K. Vijiyar Thevan.

Prior to the press conference, the Qnet V-Convention committee members paid a courtesy visit to Chow at his office in Komtar.
