A joyous occasion for traders and market-goers

WITH just days before the Chinese New Year celebration, traders and market-goers at Cecil Street Market today have something to cheer about after receiving mandarin oranges from Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also the Tanjong MP, together with Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillors and volunteers happily distributed the oranges.

The sweltering heat did not deter them from giving away the oranges. While distributing the fruits, they also wished the public a joyous Lunar New Year.

Those at the market were caught off guard by Chow, Gooi and their team.

Many of them grabbed the chance to take memorable ‘selfies’ or ‘wefies’ with the state leaders.

Chow, Gooi and the team spent about an hour mingling with the traders and shoppers before leaving at about 3.30pm.
