SEBERANG Perai is on its way to becoming a destination of choice for investors and tourists.

Poised to be the new heart of Seberang Perai, the GEM Soho development project is aimed at introducing modern living spaces with an amazing view.

The project under Regata Maju Sdn Bhd – a joint development between Belleview Group and LTC Group – is located in Jalan Baru, Prai.

Belleview Group managing director Datuk Sonny Ho said the project, situated on a 5.34-acre land, is scheduled to complete in 2022.

“The GEM Soho comprises four apartment blocks and 15 commercial shops. The four residential blocks are named after gemstones – Coral, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond.

“There are 978 residential units (ranging from 441sq ft to 1,445sq ft) in total, and each block consists of 38 storeys. The GEM Soho is a freehold development project with a total gross development value (GDV) of RM600 million,” he said in his speech before taking part in the ground-breaking ceremony of GEM Soho at GEM Sales Gallery in Jalan Baru, Prai, today.

Ho also said that the GEM Soho would be the first transit-oriented development (TOD) in Seberang Perai.

He said the GEM Soho development project was part of a 20-acre master development project, which also include the GEM Mall and a hotel.

He added that the construction work of GEM Mall and the hotel would likely begin later this year.

“The works are also to be completed in 2022,” he said.

Ho believed that the entire development would transform Seberang Perai; introducing modern living standards, mega shopping experience and impressive 4-star hotel facilities.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who graced the ceremony, said the project could elevate the standard of living in Seberang Perai.

“The state government is committed to transforming Seberang Perai into an international city and the destination of choice for investors, tourists and locals.

“We envision a vibrant Seberang Perai – a place to live, work and play,” he said.

Also present were the consul-general of China to Penang Lu Shiwei, Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy, state Welfare, Caring Society, and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud, Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye and Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy.
