THE Friends of Goodwill, a team of self-motivated and self-propelled sociopreneurs, in collaboration with Bayu Art Gallery, is organising the ‘Art for Goodwill Charity Exhibition and Auction’ in aid of the Federation of Malaysia Thalassaemia Societies (FMTS).

The charity exhibition is to auction artworks contributed by artists from Malaysia, predominantly from Penang, to help raise funds for FMTS as well as to raise awareness of thalassaemia, an inherited blood disorder.

In conjunction with the ‘Art for Goodwill Charity Exhibition and Auction’, state Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin has invited the public, amateur, professional artists to contribute their artworks during the exhibition.

“They also can bring home beautiful art pieces through bidding.

“The exhibition aims to collect a total of 50 art pieces (can be in any forms) and they will be exhibited at the Penangpac Gallery during the scheduled period.

“During the exhibition period, a silent bid will be exercised for all collected artworks to be auctioned off,” he told a press conference at The Twelve Cups café on May 9.

According to Yeoh, Art for Goodwill is also a platform for local talents to showcase their artworks.

“This event also encourages the growth of arts in the state and boost its strength as it strives to be an art hub of the region,” he added.

So far, 12 artworks have been received for the exhibition.
