Batu Maung open house attracts 5,000 guests

THE annual Batu Maung Aidilfitri open house took place on July 10 at the football field at Jalan Permatang Damar Laut with the presence of Penang state exco for Religious Affairs, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim who welcomed some 5,000 guest from his constituency.

It is my sincere hope that we all stay united as a nation and forgive each other with a big heart and stay away from lies meant to spark racial discord among us. There are people who are trying to turn Penangites against each other but the state government will never let any racial discord happen here,” said Malik who is also the Batu Maung assemblymember.

Also present at the event were Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, Penang exco member for Tourism Development and Culture Law Heng Kiang, Bukit Tengah assemblymember Ong Chin Wen, ConsulGeneral of Japan Kiyoshi Itoi and Deputy Consul-General of Thailand Sukoom Somprasonk.

Malik also added that the Transport Master Plan (TMP) which is being implemented in Penang was to make the state a better place with better transportation systems and that the TMP will also provide various job opportunities to everyone.

Guests at the event were served local delicacies such as Arabian bread, laksa, satay, char koay teow, buffet meals and much more.

In related news, Malik had earlier welcomed some 1,000 guests to his house for his Raya open house on July 9 at Batu Maung.
