A TOTAL of 48 families in the Batu Maung constituency received some form of assistance from their assemblyman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain following the death of family members due to Covid-19.

Abdul Halim, who is also the state Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman, handed RM200 and a hamper to each of the representatives during a brief ceremony in Bukit Gedung, Bayan Lepas, on Saturday (Oct 9).

“I believe that there may be some unreported ones as well. They can come forward and we will assist them.

“We are also liaising with the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) to collect data on those sole breadwinners, who had been affected by Covid-19.

“I share their sorrow and grief, especially losing their loved ones during this challenging period,” he said.

Abdul Halim said that his service centre has also offered counselling services to those in need.

Other areas, he added, that had received the assistance were in Sungai Ara and Sungai Tiram. The assistance to the bereaved families was for the deaths that occurred in July, August and September this year.
