CCPSS introduces pride icons to strengthen public safety

THE Penang Crime Consciousness and Public Safety Society (CCPSS) has introduced a lineup of “Pride Icons”, featuring former senior government officers with backgrounds in security, anti-corruption, education, national unity and emergency management.

 

CCPSS said the Pride Icons will act as strategic partners to support its mission of building a safer, more informed and resilient community.

 

The organisation said the group’s diverse expertise, including intelligence, crime prevention, integrity, public administration and disaster preparedness, will help strengthen public safety advocacy in Penang.

Zainudin

Former Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) deputy director DCP Datuk Zainudin Ahmad was named one of the Pride Icons.

 

He served in the police force for more than 30 years, including key roles in the Special Branch and major national operations such as Ops Lalang, Ops Piru and Ops Daulat.

 

He also represented Malaysia at international security meetings and later led major narcotics intelligence operations that crippled local and foreign drug syndicates.

 

His work earned him wide respect among enforcement agencies.

Ruslan

Former MACC Penang director Ruslan Tuan Mat was also introduced as a Pride Icon. He began his career as an intelligence officer in 1996 and went on to serve in various MACC divisions, including community education, investigations and intelligence operations.

 

He previously headed MACC branches in Bintulu and Perlis and later led the Southern Region Intelligence Operations Centre before being appointed MACC Penang director from 2022 to 2024.

 

Retired Penang Education Department director Datuk Abdul Said Hussain was also recognised for his 35 years of service in the education sector. Over his career, he held leadership roles in schools, district offices and the state Education Department.

He was honoured with several honours, including the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri, which carries the title Dato’, and was named Tokoh Pendidik Maal Hijrah by the Penang Malay Association (PEMENANG).

Dr Kang

Former Ministry of National Unity Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Planning) Dr Kang Tong Hum was acknowledged for his more than 30 years of service in government. He previously held key positions in the Finance Ministry, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, RAC, MAMPU and the Defence Ministry.

 

He also represented the Finance Ministry on various boards, including HRD Corp, the Port Klang Authority, and the Malacca Port Authority.

 

Former Penang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Saadon Moktar was also introduced as part of the Pride Icons. He served the department for more than 37 years, including roles in state, federal and academy leadership.
