CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has urged the state Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership to begin mobilising its machinery in preparation for the upcoming elections, at both the state and federal levels.
He also said that the state PH leadership has pledged to defend the state administration and is committed to safeguarding the Federal Government as well.
“The PH leadership recently convened to discuss the upcoming General Election (GE), which must be held within the next two years.

“Meanwhile, the timing of the state election will be decided by the leadership, who will determine whether it is held alongside the GE or separately.
“We do not have much time to prepare for the elections, so preparations must begin immediately,” he said during the Penang PKR Chinese New Year Open House at Wisma PKR today.
Chow, who is also the state PH chairman, stressed that the coalition’s component parties must be confident in their performance and in the continued support of the people.
“Many parties aim to form the government, but I would like to state that only Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, under the umbrella of the Unity Government, are the most deserving to earn the people’s support and form the government.
“Rhetoric alone is not enough. We must begin work immediately, organise our strategies, and ensure that our machinery is fully prepared. This year will be one in which preparation activities are carried out in full swing,” he added.
Apart from that, Chow also urged the leadership to improve their performance and deliver on their promises this year, in order to present a strong record ahead of the elections.
Chow said that, with a strong performance record, Pakatan Harapan and its component parties under the Unity Government can earn the people’s confidence and stand by them through all challenges, including global economic.
Also present at the open house were Deputy Chief Minister I Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Sim Tze Tzin, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik, Batu Uban assemblyman A.Kumaresan, several state executive councillors and other dignitaries.
