THE Malaysia Natural Healing Association (MNHA) has graciously donated RM10,000 to support the National Cancer Society of Malaysia’s (NCSM) initiative in building the NCSM Homes of Hope in Penang.

The home aims to provide free accommodation for underprivileged pediatric cancer patients and their caregivers during treatment at the government hospitals.

Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng commended the kind gesture of the MNHA and also encouraged others to do the same.

“When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the family members will also undergo hardships, so this home is intended to ease their burden when traveling for follow-ups or medical treatments, such as chemotherapy.

“We applaud the goodwill shown by the MNHA which will benefit cancer patients and their caregivers,” Wong said during a press conference yesterday (Nov 12) at the Pengkalan Kota service center.

Traccie Chan, the representative of the NCSM, said the bungalow at the Lebuhraya Rose would be refurbished and turned into the NCSM Homes of Hope.

“This home will serve those who are from outstation and are undergoing treatment at the Penang Hospital.

“We want them to have a proper place to stay and they do not need to worry much as everything will be taken care of, including the transport.

“We hope to raise at least RM300,000 to carry out the basic renovation,” said Chan,  who is also the founder of the Light It Up Gold (LIUG) campaign.

The LIUG campaign is an initiative to create awareness about childhood cancer.

Chan also welcomed any parties who would like to donate their buildings to be used for the same cause.
