ELDERS Day is a day to remember and honour senior citizens for their sacrifices and contributions to the country, besides promoting filial piety among the youth.
Ever since it was proclaimed by the government, the Society of Active Generation of Elders (SAGE)
has been celebrating it annually without fail.
To mark the occasion a dinner and dance will be held at the Shang Wu Primary School Hall, Jalan La Salle, Penang on Oct 6, 2018 starting at 7.00pm.
“A comprehensive programme has been drawn up for the evening which icludes line dancing, social dancing and commuity singing.
“Each participant will receive a door-gift, besides having a chance to win lucky draw prizes and /or table draw prizes, “ president of SAGE, Chin Sek Ham told a media conference in Komtar this morning.
Also present were SAGE state adviser, Phee Boon Poh who is also exco for Welfare, Caring Society and Environment.
Chin said this function is opened to both SAGE members and senior citizens in the state on a first come first serve basis. Residents from three old folks homes will be guests for the night.

All attendees aged 80 years and above who register at the time of purchase of the dinner tickets will receive an additional gift at the dinner.
The invited guests for the evening are Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng, Phee Boon Poh, SAGE Legal advisers, Jagdeep Singh Deo and Ramkarpal Singh.
