Entrepreneurship skills training for underprivileged

WITH the aim of empowering the underprivileged community in Bukit Bendera, the Bukit Bendera parliamentary service centre organised a special workshop to train them in making Hari Raya cookies.

 

The two-day workshop was held on March 30 and 31, at GiatMara Bukit Bendera. A total of 21 individuals from underprivileged group participated in the workshop.

 

Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid said in view of the upcoming Hari Raya celebration, it is important to give this community a platform to increase their income.

“The knowledge gained from the two-day workshop on making Hari Raya cookies can be a turning point for them to start a business venture, selling Raya cookies through various platforms, including online avenues.

“Thus, we hope after this we can organise even more training programmes and workshops to help those from the underprivileged community,” Syerleena said in her speech when she officiated the workshop yesterday (March 30).

 

Also present was GiatMara Bukit Bendera chairman Mohamad Fakarudin Md Farok.

 

Syerleena also announced that her Bukit Bendera parliamentary service centre would organise the Hari Raya Carnival on April 14 at SK Jalan Residensi.

 

“The carnival will start at 11.30am and I encourage the Bukit Bendera constituents to attend with their families,” she said.
