IT was a vibrant celebration at the Padang Kota constituency Chinese New Year (CNY) Open House held at Lee Kongsi, Jalan Burma today, with visitors and guests coming together to join in the joyous festivities.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the Padang Kota assemblyman, said that Penang has long been recognised as a state rich in cultural diversity, languages, and religions.
He added that the constituency reflects this spirit, serving as a meeting point for people of various races, backgrounds, and beliefs, who live together peacefully and respect one another.

Chow highlighted that the Chinese New Year symbolises a new beginning, full of hope, energy, and a passion to achieve greater success.
“Along with this spirit, the state government will continue to ensure that development is carried out in an inclusive, sustainable, and balanced manner, so that the benefits can be enjoyed by all layers of society, regardless of race and religion.
“I pray that this year will bring happiness, good health, prosperity, and continued success to all. Let us continue to stand together, strengthen unity, and work together to build a more prosperous Penang for future generations,” Chow added.
The event featured lively performances, and visitors and guests were treated to a variety of scrumptious meals.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Law Choo Kiang, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A.Rajendran, Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister and Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, State Social Development, Welfare, and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim, several assemblymen and MBPP councillors as well as other dignitaries.
