In two weeks’ time, the much-awaited Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2019 will be in town.
Fifteen unique hot air balloons will take centre stage during the two-day event on Feb 9 and 10.
The fiesta will be held at the Padang Polo from 7am to 9pm.
Organised for the fifth consecutive year, the event draws participation of international balloonists from the United States, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan.
Visitors can enjoy the cold inflation activity, attend creative workshops, jump on giant trampoline, play the reverse bungees and take part in many other exciting activities.
State Tourism, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said with the Chinese New Year round the corner, family and friends could have loads of fun and excitement at the balloon festival.
“One of the highlights of the event is the ‘Night Glow’ which will feature ten balloons. When lighted up, they will be a spectacular sight to behold,” Yeoh said.
“Teetered balloon rides will also be available where one can go up as high as 60 feet.
“On top of that, there will be also the cold inflation activity where visitors can walk into balloon envelope that is filled with cold air as it lies on the ground.”
