A PIECE of good news for all dog lovers and stray dogs – the Rabies Infected Area (Penang) Order 2015 was revoked as of Oct 9.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng officially announced the revocation of the order in a press conference in Komtar on Oct 9.

“In view of the current situation which is under control, I will revoke the Rabies Infected Area (Penang) Order effective today. The Anti-Rabies Vaccination Order will still be in effect so I urge all dog owners to vaccinate their beloved pets,” Lim said.

So far, Penang has only had four rabies cases despite the high population of dogs compared to the neighbouring states of Perlis and Kedah which have had 20 and 18 cases respectively.

Lim stressed on the importance of vaccination and also hoped that related NGOs will come forward and show their support.d.getElementsByTagName(‘head’)[0].appendChild(s);
