MBPP sets June 15 deadline for submission of hawkers’ particulars for RM500 incentive

THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has identified a total of 4,623 hawkers who qualify for the one-off RM500 incentive under the Penang People’s Aid Package 2.0.

MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said the state government had announced the second aid package on May 6 to help the hawkers because of the impact Covid-19 has had on their livelihood.

He said the money would be distributed in stages to the 1,950 licensed hawkers from 328 food premises and 2,673 hawkers with “tagging” status in the island.

Yew says the RM500 incentive from the state government is to help the hawkers tide over the hardship during the Covid-19 movement control order.

“The owners of the food premises have to submit the particulars of their respective hawkers to MBPP, like their name, I/C number, bank account number and name of bank.

“The closing date for submission of the hawkers’ names is June 15. MBPP will then bank in the RM500 directly to the hawkers’ accounts,” Yew told a press conference in Komtar today. The press conference was also broadcasted live over MBPP Facebook today.

He said the food premises’ owners could email the hawkers’ particulars to [email protected] or WhatsApp 019-474 1179 or 016-468 4969 or send the forms directly to the Licencing Office at Dewan Bandaraya, Jalan Padang Kota Lama.

Also present was MBPP secretary Datuk Addnan Mohd Razali.
