PENANG Miaohui will hold a trial run on Nov 7 ahead of its official event next year, inviting members of the public to experience selected curated activities and provide feedback to help the organising committee refine the event arrangements and cultural presentations.
Penang Miaohui 2027 event master planner Chong Jian Mei told Buletin Mutiara that the trial run will take place from 8.30am to 1pm at Dewan Belia Lebuh Acheh. Participation is limited to 30 people, and interested members of the public are welcome to register.
She said the trial run will allow participants to experience selected activities firsthand and share feedback to help improve the event flow, cultural presentations and overall visitor experience.

The 2027 Penang Miaohui, themed “Echoes of Memories”,will be held on Feb 14 next year, coinciding with Valentine’s Day and the ninth day of Chinese New Year, in George Town’s Unesco World Heritage Site.
Launched by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow last week, the festival will feature heritage buildings, clan temples and associations, cultural exhibitions, traditional performances, food and traditional crafts, showcasing Penang’s rich history and multicultural heritage.
The festival will focus on three main themes: folk legends and mythology, historical figures, and stories from ancient texts.
A total of 26 heritage sites are expected to open to the public, including clan temples, clan associations and places of worship. The festival will cover 12 streets and feature about 17 stages and street performance areas.
More than 20 clan associations outside the main festival area have been invited to participate in the “Clan Culture Village” exhibition booths, while another seven to eight associations are expected to take part in the “Hometown Street” exhibition.
Next year’s festival will also feature St George’s Church, the Sri Mahamariamman Temple and the Lebuh Acheh Mosque, allowing visitors to learn about the histories and cultures of different places of worship.
Supported by the Penang state government, the festival is organised by the Penang Chinese Clan Council and coordinated by the Penang Cultural Inheritors Society.
