PFC can finish top-three with consistent performance, says rep

THE Penang Football Club (PFC) are capable of finishing in the top three in the Super League this season if they can maintain their current good form, says Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik.

Newly-promoted Penang are currently lying in fourth place in the 12-team league with 19 points (5 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss), behind JDT (23 points), Terengganu (21) and Kedah (20).

Goh, who is an avid supporter of Penang FC, said there are however a few areas that need to be improved by the PFC players.

“They include the players’ fitness level and team strategy in every match.

“They need to work more on that. If the team can strengthen that two areas, then I personally believe that PFC can be among the top three this season.

“After all, anything is possible in modern football since we just entering a mid-season,” said Goh during a breaking fast programme with PFC youth team in Bukit Tambun yesterday (April 26).

Also present was Bukit Tambun Football Club president Foo Yu Keong.

PFC are scheduled to face Terengganu for their away match on May 1 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.

Goh also encouraged PFC to focus more on developing homegrown players that can benefit the team in the long run.
