Protective and safety equipment donated to support Covid-19 effort

AS part of their ongoing commitment to support communities during the Covid-19 pandemic, three organisations donated 2,329 items of protective and safety equipment to the Penang government today.

 

They are Persatuan Dermawan Jishan Bukit Mertajam, Cinsoon Auto Parts Sdn Bhd and HengMeng Air Cond and Parts Trading Sdn Bhd.

 

The donated items include 89 pieces of medical safety goggles (Cinsoon Auto Parts), 240 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) suits (Persatuan Dermawan Jishan) and 2,000 face masks (HengMeng Aircond and Parts Trading).

 

State Environment and Welfare Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh thanked the three organisations for their contribution, which is crucial during these ongoing trying times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

The donated items will be distributed to healthcare frontliners and the needy in the community.

 

“A key part of our response to the pandemic is to help organisations or individuals in need deal with the unprecedented zone wherever we can.

 

“Clearly, the need for such protective and safety equipment is urgent and hats off to all related organisations for the fantastic job done thus far.

 

“All of you have responded in tremendous style and of course, I hope that these efforts will continue until and when the pandemic comes to an end,” said Phee during the handover of the items at Komtar today.

Persatuan Dermawan Jishan Bukit Mertajam chairman Datuk Tan Kok Aun thanked the Penang government for the opportunity to contribute the said items which will benefit the affected communities and frontliners.

 

“We will continue to do our best when it comes to contributing essential items to the needy in the community,” said Tan.

 

Phee also said Persatuan Dermawan Jishan had also donated two units of water dispenser to the Penang Remand Prison and Jawi Prison, costing about RM14,000.

 

Separately, Prodental B donated 350 sets of toothbrush and toothpaste to the Penang Remand Prison.

 

Penang Prisons director Roslan Mohamed, who received the items, extended his heartiest appreciation to the Penang government for showing continuous support towards the well-being of the prisoners.
