Ramasamy: We’ve a lot to learn from the Japanese on STEM

PENANG is eager to learn and to evolve itself with regard to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) fields, says state Economic Planning, Education, Human Resources and Science, Technology & Innovation Committee chairman Prof Dr P. Ramasamy.

“Our biggest asset is our young ones. We want to inculcate in them the interest for STEM subjects. Science is not merely about coming up with products but it is beyond than that,’’ Ramasamy, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister II, said during his speech at the opening ceremony of Japanese Technology & Culture Weekend 2019 at Tech Dome Penang today.

“We have a lot to learn from the Japanese culture, their discipline and the way they perceive things. It will not be easy for us to adopt it, but slowly it can be done.

“This programme will serve as a platform for the Japanese companies to showcase their technology and expose our students to it,’’ Ramasamy added
