Raya cheer for 59 children in Penang Hospital

FOR the fifth consecutive year, thanks to a Penang assemblyman and Wan Chik Ariffin Mosque in Jalan Perak, children warded at Penang Hospital received goodies and duit raya.

With the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration early next month, the gifts by Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo and the mosque was to provide cheer to the kids and staff.

Many of the recipients, comprising 59 children and over 30 staff members, expressed gratitude to Jagdeep and the mosque for the goodies and duit raya on May 22.

At a press conference, Jagdeep said this programme was important to shower the children with love and assist their families with the festivity around the corner.

“We want to give encouragement to the kids here,” he told reporters after distributing goodies and duit raya to the children.

Jagdeep also praised the hospital staff for taking care of the children.

“They are the unsung heroes here,” said Jagdeep, who was accompanied by Jelutong MP R.S.N. Rayer.

Later, Jagdeep and Rayer proceeded to distribute aprons and dates to stall owners at the Ramadan bazaar along Jalan Utama.
