THE Butterworth Arena (PICCA) is buzzing this weekend as the ‘15th Rise Global Summit of Tamil Entrepreneurs and Professionals’ brings together over 600 participants, running until Sunday.
State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who graced the event, said the summit will serve as a platform for businesses with a common purpose, fostering collaboration and togetherness.
“Our unity is of paramount importance, setting aside our differences. We are here for a common purpose, which is business,” Sundarajoo said during his speech at the opening ceremony of the summit today.
The theme for this year’s summit is Vaa Tamizha. It is organised by the Development of Human Resources for Rural Areas (DHRRA) Malaysia in collaboration with the Penang government.
This is the first time the conference is being held in Penang and the third time in Malaysia. It aims to build a stronger global network of Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals, with a particular focus on enhancing ties with those in Malaysia.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) M. Kulasegaran, chairman and president of the summit, Datuk Saravanan Sinapan and other dignitaries.
Delegates include participants from the United States, India, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and many other countries.
The conference will focus on key areas such as business opportunities, human capital development and job creation, technology sharing and digital innovation, investment prospects, and the tourism and business sectors.
Sessions will be conducted in Tamil and will highlight 15 major sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, construction, retail, healthcare, education, real estate, transportation, and media.
The Rise is a global platform dedicated to empowering Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals through networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. It was established in 2018.
