ROSE Charities Malaysia today provided financial assistance to 40 underprivileged students to help them purchase school supplies in conjunction with the reopening of schools for the 2026 academic year.

The aid forms part of the organisation’s Single Parent and Children Project, which seeks to ease the financial burden faced by low-income families at the start of the new school term.

The contributions were handed out during the official launch of ROSE Charities’ new centre at Persiaran Cantonment, marking another milestone for the organisation.

Pertubuhan Wanita Mutiara Pulau Pinang (PWMPP) chairman Tan Lean Kee expressed her gratitude to Rose Charities for its selfless efforts.

“It helps alleviate the financial burden on parents while boosting children’s confidence and motivation to learn,” she said in her speech.

Tan, who is also the wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, praised the charitable organisation for offering various classes such as dancing, qigong, and music, which foster community bonding and provide platforms for learning and idea exchange.

On behalf of PWMPP, Tan contributed RM3,000 to Rose Charities and urged all sectors to collaborate in building a resilient and caring community.

Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo highlighted that Penang is gradually moving towards an ageing society, encouraging constituents to adopt healthier lifestyles, including walking more.

He also addressed the recent installation of railings along Pulau Tikus’ main road, noting that the measure aims to reduce traffic congestion.

On top of that, Woo announced an RM2,000 allocation to support Rose Charities’ ongoing initiatives.

Rose Charities acting president Vince Yeoh said the organisation will continue collaborating with the state Social Welfare Department to promote the Single Parent and Children Project, emphasising its importance to the community.

Those keen to participate in Rose Charities classes can contact 019-2132483 via WhatsApp. The organisation also holds a clothing charity sale every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
