THE seat negotiations between Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) and its Barisan Nasional (BN) counterparts have reached 95%, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.

He was responding to a question about the seat negotiations for the upcoming Penang state election.

“I believe the next meeting with Barisan would be the third and last meeting. If a decision could not be reached, then the matter would have to be presented to the (respective) presidential councils.

“There are perhaps one or two state seats left to be discussed,” Chow, who is also the Penang PH chairman, added.

PH currently dominates the State Legislative Assembly with 33 seats through DAP (19), PKR (12) and Amanah (2). BN has two seats through Umno, while the sole Opposition member is from PAS, a member of the Perikatan Nasional. Four seats have been declared vacant in the last State Legislative Assembly sitting for going against the state anti-hopping law.
