Senior citizens and needy children let their hair down

THE Penang government is grateful to several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for selflessly helping the needy.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state was blessed to have such organisations that are caring towards the underprivileged.

“These NGOs played their part in the society. They are actively caring after those in need,” he said during his speech at the charity dinner and ‘angpow’ giveaway ceremony at Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society this evening.

Some 550 golden agers and underprivileged children received the token of love from the Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society.

Chow thanked the society’s vice-chairman Datuk Alvin Lim Theng Hooi and the committee members for their dedication in organising the event.

Those present were treated to a delicious spread of Chinese cuisine.

It was indeed a memorable evening for the visitors when Chow entertained them by singing a traditional song at the event.
