The three-day grand occasion is expected to draw thousands of visitors and devotees. Some 160 thaneer panthals are expected to be operating during the festive event.

It was reported that a bigger Golden Chariot would be making its maiden journey from the Arulmigu Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Queen Street on the eve of Thaipusam, to the Waterfall Hilltop Murugan Temple.
