CELEBRATING Malaysia Day is not merely a day of remembrance but a celebration of our nation’s unity and a call to strengthen the bonds that hold us together.

Madam Tan Lean Kee, wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, shared that the occasion serves as a reminder to cherish and uphold the values of harmony, respect, acceptance, and togetherness.

“These values ensure that future generations continue to embrace the spirit of Malaysia’s diverse and united identity.

“As we celebrate Malaysia Day on Sept 16, let us continue to cherish one another, regardless of race, religion, or background.

“Let us be reminded that our diversity is our strength, and our unity is the key to a brighter Malaysia,” Tan said during her opening speech at the Hari Malaysia celebration for senior citizens, organised by the Padang Kota Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK) on September 13.

Also present were Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Benji Ang, Padang Kota JPWK chairman Datin Anna Yeoh, and PAWE Jelutong chairman Datuk Seri Lawrence Cheah.

Reflecting on the contributions of senior citizens to the nation’s well-being, Tan highlighted that they are not only the pillars of our families but, with their wisdom, experience, and insight, continue to serve their communities and the country.

“You are the ones who have carried the spirit of Malaysia through the years and have witnessed the struggles, sacrifices, and growth of our beloved country.

“Because of your dedication, hard work, and prayers, younger generations can live in peace and prosperity today. For that, we owe you our deepest gratitude.

“May Malaysia continue to grow in peace, harmony, and prosperity, and may we always remain united as one family,” she concluded.
