Shorter waiting time to apply for MBSP business licence

FIRST-TIME business operators on the mainland can now expect a faster approval for their operating licence with the introduction of a new licensing manual by the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP).

MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said with the new licensing manual, the council can now issue a business licence at a faster rate which previously took about 21 days.

“If there is nothing wrong with all the documents submitted by them, we will approve the licence instantly on the same day.

“But if it’s not, then, they only need to wait about seven days only for the business licence application to be approved.

“Thus, first-time business operators will now be spared the hassle of having to wait for a longer period of time to get their business licences.

“With this new improvement, we hope we can spur the economic activities in Seberang Perai that is badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” Rozali said in his speech during the launching ceremony at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.

Also present was Malaysia Productivity Corp (MPC) director-general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman.

Abdul Latif said the preparation of the new licencing manual is the result of a collaboration between MBSP and MPC since 2016.

“Through the collaboration, we have finally managed to identify some critical and irrelevant procedures that can slow down the process of issuing an operating licence to the business operator,” he said.

Rozali also thanked the MPC for their cooperation and consultation in helping the MBSP to prepare the new licencing manual document.

He said the new licencing manual is a complete reference document for first-time business operators to obtain more information on how to apply for an operating license.

“It explains in detail to them about the requirements and rules that need to be understood before applying for a business licence.

“To know the details of the new licencing manual, the public can go to MBSP official website at https://www.mbsp.gov.my/

“They can also contact MBSP’s Licencing Department at 04-5497685 or email to [email protected] for further details,” he added.
