CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow today launched the grand opening of Tesco Bagan Ajam, the chain’s seventh hypermarket in Penang and 58th in Malaysia.

He commended Tesco for expanding its business in the state and providing 2,000 jobs for the local community at its latest hypermarket.

Featuring 9,500sq m, the new hypermarket caters to the needs of a growing community.

“We, as the state government, will continue to work to ensure that all the plans and developments remain relevant for the benefit of the people of the state,” Chow said in his speech.

“From only a small state, we’re now proud that Penang is listed among the states with the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Malaysia.

“Tesco has introduced various products under its own brand at a much cheaper price with comparable quality with other well-known brands.

“It will not only provide alternatives and help consumers save money but also help local small-medium enterprises to move forward.”

Tesco Bagan Ajam is currently offering great Chinese New Year deals besides its typical wide array of products like fresh food, grocery, bakery, electronics, clothing and baby essentials.
