IF shoppers want an early ‘Raya’ feel, head to the Summer Market at the Bukit Jambul Complex in Penang.

State Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain recently launched the Summer Market where ‘Pre-Hari Raya’ promotions are being held until May 12 to attract more shoppers to the mall.

He said the state government would continue to support efforts in reviving the economy and hope to see more of these programmes in the future.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected the Malaysian economy, businesses and people’s livelihoods.

“When you buy from Bukit Jambul Complex, you are supporting our local medium and small business owners. By supporting local means you care about the community that you live in.

“Bukit Jambul Complex JMB has done a great job in helping these small business owners by providing space at a very minimal charge of as low as RM10 per day and at the same time organising many marketing activities to attract more shoppers,” Abdul Halim said in his speech.

Bukit Jambul Complex JMB chairman K.H. Chan said in view of the upcoming Ramadan, the Summer Market (at Level 2 & 3) was to create a livelier atmosphere of the fasting month and at the same time to revive the tenants and merchants’ businesses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is very affordable and we have planned a centralised marketing strategy there for our small business owners with many exciting and enjoying activities, such as football juggling, balloons giveaways by our clowns, emcee announcement, facebook live at our KBJ official page, giving away RM2 cash voucher which shoppers can spend at the Summer Market,” Chan said.

“All this would not add up to the amount paid for their rental. We hope many small business owners will grab this opportunity to rebound after the pandemic”

“I call on all health professionals to use technology and innovation, as well as be aware of the potential use of mobile phone applications, other technological advances, and telemedicine in improving diabetes self-management,” Abdul Halim said.

He added that according to the World Health Organisation, diabetes is one of the leading killers in the world. In Malaysia alone, 3.9 million suffered from diabetes in 2019 and this number was the highest in Asia.
