RESIDENTS at Taman Samak Flat in George Town were in a jubilant mood today when their application for a maintenance project via the Penang Maximum 80% Maintenance Fund (TPM80PP) has been approved by the state government.

State Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo told the residents of the government’s approval when he visited the flat today.

Jagdeep said under the TPM80PP, the state government will be contributing RM98,560 to replace the roof of the Taman Samak Flat.

“Under the TPM80PP, the state government will be contributing RM98,560 to replace the roof of the Taman Samak Flat.

“The total cost of the project is RM123,200 and the residents only have to bear 20% of the total cost.

“But, since I was told by the joint management body (JMB) here that they still cannot afford to pay the remaining amount, I hereby will sponsor another 20% of the total cost by using my office allocation (service centre).

“This shows my commitment to the residents here as an elected representative for this area (Datok Keramat),” said Jagdeep, adding that the replacement works for the new roof will start immediately.

Also present was Jelutong MP RSN Rayer.
