BELIEVING that education can transform lives, Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten strives to help children in need attain a quality education and pave the way for a better tomorrow.
Acknowledging its pivotal role in producing responsible and impactful individuals, State Social Development, Welfare, and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim praised the organisation’s efforts.

Lim shared this during her visit to the Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten in Butterworth today. She was accompanied by Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Syn Tze.
“Thank you to Tzu Chi’s educational and community services for supporting the community and giving children hope for a brighter future. I truly respect and am deeply by the dedication your organisation shows in everything you do,” Lim said.
Lim, who is also the Sungai Pinang assemblyman, highlighted that providing fully free early childhood education for children from families in need is of great significance.
“I urge local community leaders, including the assemblymen’s service centres, to spread the word about the upcoming student intake briefing sessions for Tzu Chi’s educational institutions on both the island and the mainland.
“Apart from their educational services, Tzu Chi volunteers are present during disasters, providing immediate help to victims and demonstrating their dedication to community welfare,” she added.

Subsequently, Lim visited the Tzu Chi Education Centre at Macalister Road on the island.
Meanwhile, Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten in Butterworth’s principal, Ng Ko Sin, shared that the briefing sessions will take place at three different locations, including Butterworth Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten, Buddhist Tzu Chi Nibong Tebal, and Buddhist Education Centre.
Ng explained that the Hope Education Programme supports children who are orphans, from single-parent families, have parents with disabilities, are raised by grandparents, or come from low-income households.
She added that Butterworth Buddhist Tzu Chi Kindergarten currently has 49 students, including both daycare and kindergarten enrolments, and 12 staff members.

The kindergarten was originally established in 2004 at Bagan Ajam before relocating to its current premises in Bagan Jermal.
Representatives from several assemblymen’s service centres were also present during Lim’s visit, showing their support.
One of the staff members shared her experience of how her child, who has a medical condition, was accepted into Butterworth Tzu Chi Kindergarten. She was later offered a job at the kindergarten, allowing her to assist her child during lessons.
