FOURTEEN students received their certificates of participation after completing 12 weeks of bridal and mehendi skill training under the Young POWER programme by the Penang Indian Wellbeing Association (Peniwa) yesterday.
Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, who officiated the event in Komtar, congratulated Peniwa for providing the skill training.
“Equipping them with skills can help alleviate the unemployment issues. I hope other NGOs will join forces in organising such programmes.
“I hope more digital marketing skill-related programmes will be held in the future as this is the market trend since the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Kumaresan, who also shared information on the state’s funding and loan opportunities.
Peniwa chairman Arvind Poobalan said the POWER (Program for Overcoming Work & Education Restriction) programme was aimed at participants from the B40 group.
He also thanked the state government for its continuous support for Peniwa and the development of the Indian community.
Mageswary Balan, one of the certificate recipients, thanked Peniwa and said she would be starting a bridal business soon.
Another student, Sivagaaami Segaran, said she was very happy that she was given the opportunity to undergo the skill training and thanked the trainer, Vanithamani Bhaskaran from Vajra Bridal.
