A TOTAL of 24 Malaysian students, guided by Syscore Academy, will represent Malaysia at the World Robot Games (WRG) 2025, scheduled to take place from November 25 to December 1, 2025, in Taipei, Taiwan.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Komtar on Nov 3, attended by state Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who also chairs the Penang Tamil Schools special committee, and Bagan Dalam assemblyman Kumaran Krishnan.
This prestigious international robotics and STEM competition is expected to draw over 1,000 participants from 10 countries, including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia.
The WRG is recognised as one of the world’s largest platforms for young innovators to showcase their creativity, engineering excellence, and problem-solving skills.
Malaysia made a strong debut at the World Robot Games 2024, held at Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore, earning multiple international accolades.
The Malaysian team emerged champion in the Sumo Robot category, clinched second and third places in the Programming category, and was listed among the Top 10 Best Innovative Projects in the Innovation segment.
This year’s Malaysian delegation comprises students from Tamil schools and former Tamil school students who have been undergoing intensive technical and innovation training since early 2025.
Under the mentorship of Syscore Academy’s experienced instructors, the students have been equipped with not only robotics engineering and programming knowledge, but also communication, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills, preparing them to meet global standards.
The initiative has received strong backing from parents and the Penang government, particularly through the special committee for Tamil Schools, which continues to promote STEM education and create opportunities for B40 students to access modern technology learning.
Syscore Sdn Bhd managing director and Syscore Academy founder Kalitazan Gannesa said Malaysia’s participation in WRG 2025 goes beyond competition, as it represents a mission to nurture a generation of innovative and visionary young Malaysians.
He also revealed that Malaysia has been proposed as the host for WRG 2026, with Penang being considered as the venue, a move that would further position the state as a regional hub for education, innovation, and technology exchange.
Sundarajoo, meanwhile, congratulated the students for their commitment and urged them to give their best at the global stage.
“Walk back to Penang as proud champions,” he told the students with encouragement.
