An ideal home

IDEAL Property Group achieved yet another milestone when it delivered its second affordable home project, the first phase of I-Santorini (Tower C), in Penang today.

It was celebrated with a key handover ceremony by state Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh to some of the 835 house owners at Tanjung Pinang, just a stone’s throw away from Tesco Seri Pinang and Straits Quay Marina Mall.

In March this year, Ideal Property completed its first affordable home project, called One Foresta, in Bayan Lepas.

Beaming with pride at the official key handover ceremony were Ideal Property Group executive chairman Tan Sri Alex Ooi and his wife, group chief executive director Puan Sri Joanne Phor, chief operating officer Datuk Goh Teng Whoo, general manager Connie Ang, Ideal staff members and some 30 house buyers.

Also present was state Works, Utilities and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, who is also the Tanjung Bungah assemblyman.

“In the pipeline, we have a few thousand units for upcoming affordable housing projects. We want to support the state government to help provide affordable homes to the people of Penang,” Ooi said.

“We like to congratulate the buyers for choosing the correct project at a good location. We also want to thank our construction team and our architect. They all did a good job. We’re on the correct pathway and we also deliver to the purchasers.”

Jagdeep complimented Ideal Property for the delivery of the project for the benefit of Penangites.

“Your product is of so high quality. The quality of affordable housing in Penang is far better than the affordable housing you can get anywhere in Malaysia.

“We require developers to meet certain standards but some developers go a step further. And one developer is Ideal Property Group.”

In a light vein, he said Ideal Property is now the main competitor to Penang Development Corporation because of the high standard it has set.

He also congratulated Ideal Property for bagging several awards, such as the Asia Pacific Property Award 2016-2017 (I-Santorini, 5-Star Best Residential High Rise Architecture in Malaysia) and StarProperty.my Awards 2017 (I-Santorini, Malaysia Best Starter Home) and PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards 2019 (I-Santorini, Best Mass Market Development Project).

The architectural design of the I-Santorini is basically inspired by the motifs of the famous Greek island, with its textured whitewashed and earthy toned coloured walls, blue domes, poolside cabanas and stunning entrance along with tranquil Mediterranean landscaping.

I-Santorini covers an area of 9.98 acres, featuring three artistic towers in blue hues that house 2,155 units with 68 units of shop-lots on the ground and first floor.

Tower A and Tower B consist of 48 floors each with a total of 1,320 units while Tower C consists of 49 floors with a total of 835 units. The construction progress for Tower A and Tower B is currently approximately 98%.

All units have a standard built-up area of 850sq ft, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Zairil said he was very happy that there are now more affordable homes in Tanjung Bungah.

“If you go back eight years ago, one of the main issues that Penang was struggling with was that there was a huge number of luxury development and not enough homes for the real people.

“The state government really tackles that. Under YB Jagdeep, he has managed to produce what is needed by the people of Penang which are affordable homes.

“This means that ordinary Penangites can have a stake in their own state. If you were to leave the market on its own, this will not happen because developers will build luxury projects as land prices are high.

“It is the state’s intervention in the market that has managed to ensure the availability of very affordable housing.”
